Dr. Fran Hoh has been a Registered Nurse for 4 decades on a mission to help people recover from illness.  She is passionate about lifelong learning and completed a diploma, Bachelors, and Masters degree in Nursing in the 1980s.  She went on to complete a PHD in Health Administration in 2001. She is equally as passionate about teaching and has been known as the “tell it like is is” presenter and always receives the highest ratings on her program evaluations.  She is known for excellence by her peers as demonstrated by being awarded the Nurse Excellence Award from Overlook Medical Center in 2006 for developing a 3 Day Pain Resource course and trained hundreds of nurses to be resources for better pain management.  She has done full day programs across the country on topics of pain management and end of life care and has been a certified End of Life Nursing Education Consortium trainer since 1992. Over her career she has been nationally board certified as a Critical Care Nurse, a Pain Management Nurse, and an Advanced Practice Nurse in Hospice and Palliative Care.

She is passionate about pain management and was a founding member of the Garden State Chapter of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing.  Her book Pain Medication and You was published in 2013 as a guide for patients to better understand how to manage pain and was sold on Amazon with excellent reviews. She promises her patients with severe pain that she can decrease their pain by at last 50% and that is exactly what she does.  She was also awarded the Clinical Practice Award in 2010 and the Geriatric Nurse Exemplar Award in 2015 by the American Society of Pain Management Nursing.

In 2008 Frans mother was diagnosed with Cardiac Amyloidosis, a condition the doctors said would take her life in 6 months. The doctor could offer no support services for a patient that was just told she has 6 months to live. Fran researched how to best care for her mom in the time she had left, and sought out all available resources. So after her mother died, in 2009 Fran combined her knowledge, vision, Can Do attitude,  and skills to launch  her own practice called Always Think Comfort, and hired a team of Nurse Practitioners to do pain and palliative care consults at over 30 long term care facilities in NJ. Her goal was to provide support to families who are living in the last season of a family members life.

In 2020 she again received the Nurse Excellence Award in Interprofessional Collaboration for her work during the Covid pandemic. During the Covid pandemic she fiercely advocated for IPADS, and family visits, and aggressive symptoms management for those who where dying of the Corona virus. She was on a team of health care providers that met daily to review all the covid patients and their trajectories
